Record the entire screen

To jump recording, click Record in the onscreen controls:

Click Options in the screen controls to change these settings:

Save to: Choose where recordings are automatically saved, for example, on the desktop, in documents, or on the clipboard.

Timer: Choose whether to start recording immediately or 5 or 10 seconds after clicking the record control.

Mic: To record your voice or other audio along with the recording, select a mic.

Show floating thumbnail: Select whether to show the thumbnail.

Remember the last selection: choose whether the choices made the last time you used this tool are using by default.

Show mouse clicks: Select whether to show a black circle around the pointer when clicking on the recording.

When you save a recording automatically, the Mac uses “Screen recording date and time .mov.”

To cancel the recording, press the Esc key before clicking to record.
